Frostfire (Kanin Chronicles #1)

“Remember my name. Because I'm going to be the one who kills you.”

"Bryn Aven is an outcast among the Kanin, the most powerful of the troll tribes."

"Set apart by her heritage and her past, Bryn is a tracker who's determined to become a respected part of her world. She has just one goal: become a member of the elite King’s Guard to protect the royal family. She's not going to let anything stand in her way, not even a forbidden romance with her boss Ridley Dresden."

"But all her plans for the future are put on hold when Konstantin– a fallen hero she once loved – begins kidnapping changelings. Bryn is sent in to help stop him, but will she lose her heart in the process?"

I think.... I liked the cover better than the story. The book was... disappointing.

The main character is Bryn. Bryn is very stubborn and wants to kill the person who almost killed her father.... Sounds like the dream life.

She's a short-sighted girl and only cares about her opinions. She doesn't listen very well to other's or her "friends". She was a disappointing character. Konstantin (the guy who almost killed her father) starts kidnapping changelings. Which, I can't explain (the changelings) because I'm still confused with their troll tribes and royals. The author didn't do a good job explaining her world of trolls. Anyway, this book has a creepy mystery staring Konstantin. The mystery (and the little romance that started...) was great! I was hooked.

Note: the mystery keeps going through out the series.

I did read the second book and...

Things did change! The second was better and people say that the third book is the best in the series. I'm not giving up! Overall, I was quite disappointed with the main character and I am confused with the trolls but I liked the creepy mystery and... I have a OTP! You have to read to find out... :)

In the end...

  1. This sounds like a cool idea for a book! But as you said maybe the first one just didn't pull it off.

    1. The idea for this book was good! It just didn't start out right. :( I agree with you.

  2. It's too bad that you didn't think that this book was very good! I hate when a book has a good idea but it ends up not being good ♥

    1. Yeah, I'm still a little disappointed with the first book. I agree! I'm glad that the second book was better. :)
