review: Anna and the French Kiss

“Girl scouts didn't teach me what to do with emotionally unstable drunk boys.”
― Stephanie Perkins, Anna and the French Kiss

*starts squealing*

Cuteness overload! Anna and the French Kiss was very adorable. My heart melted over the romance and the characters very awkward and adorable?! *throws the book in your face* READ THIS.

Meet Anna, awkward girl who loves movies, has a pretty good job and has a crush on her coworker. Pretty easy life, but, when Anna's father ships her to a boarding school in Paris, her life is (obviously) changed. Anna and the French Kiss is straight up adorable people. Anna is almost exactly like ME. Anna in the book is awkward: check. Anna in book is funny: check??? *heavy breathing* Anna in book loves the movies: change that to books and check. Anna in book doesn't know what's going on and how to fix problems: check. Anna = Anna. I loved Anna, if that isn't obvious and I also loved Étienne St. Clair. Anna and Étienne St. Clair ARE TOO ADORABLE AND I LOVE THEM TO DEATHHHH.

PRETTY MUCH.

Okay. *takes a deep breath in... and out* Okay. Anna and Étienne St. Clair are my OTP (One True Pairing) for lifeeee. I liked the other side characters but not like Anna and Étienne St. Clair. I didn't really have strong feelings for the other characters. Okay, characters: check. The writing! The writing was simple and very easy to read. Loved that. Writing: check. Now, the plot.

The plot was somewhat predictable but it was FUN. What I really like with Anna and the French Kiss is that it's not like your common love story. It's not like "I fell in love this boy this summer and we got married and had chil-" STOP. Anna and the French Kiss isn't like that, it actually makes common sense! The characters also go though problems and help each other with their problems! Friendship is very important in this book which is important in real life. *awkward laugh*

My final thoughts are...

Anna and the French Kiss was full of romance, friendship, family and finding the true meaning of home. This book was amazing and adorable. <3 Well done Stephanie Perkins!

AND HERE'S SOME FAN-ART BECAUSE I'M A NICE PERSON AND I LOVED THE BOOK AND YOU SHOULD TOO.

Can Anna find love in the City of Light?

Anna is happy in Atlanta. She has a loyal best friend and a crush on her coworker at the movie theater, who is just starting to return her affection. So she's less than thrilled when her father decides to send her to a boarding school in Paris for her senior year.

But despite not speaking a word of French, Anna meets some cool new people, including the handsome Étienne St. Clair, who quickly becomes her best friend. Unfortunately, he's taken —and Anna might be, too. Will a year of romantic near misses end with the French kiss she's waiting for?

  1. I LOVED this book too! I just wish there's someone out there who's as cheesy and perfect as Étienne, sigh. I mean, is that even posible?? He's so sweet and handsome and he's such a gentleman! Gah, I still have the feels over this book even after more than two months. >.<

  2. I am not usually into these types of books, but I really enjoyed this one when I read it and am so happy you did, too! It is all sugar sweetness and fluff and SO CUTE!!! It made my heart grow ten sizes. Loved the review, Anna! XD (Also, was it weird reading about a character with the same name? It always is for me).

  3. I still really need to read this one! I've heard so many good things about it, but wasn't sure it would be my cup of tea. Now though, I think I'll love it! Definitely one to read in the summer though - I'll have to try and read it in the spring ♥
